What is Channel Hunt?

Channel Hunt is a discovery tool meant for up-and-coming YouTube and Twitch content creators. Users can submit their channels to Channel Hunt, which automatically enters them into a weekly contest. Both content creators and explorers can use Channel Hunt’s search feature to find and vote on specific channels. The top ten channels at the end of the week get showcased on the homepage’s “most popular channels list.” By submitting new channels every week, content explorers and emerging creators can get exposure and connect with new audiences.

For Content Explorers

Having trouble finding new channels to watch on YouTube and Twitch? Us too. Instead of mindlessly scrolling through cat videos, we decided to create a place where the best emerging video content channels will get a chance to rise to the top. How do we determine what’s “best”? You do! On a weekly basis, the Channel Hunt community ranks and votes on the channels they think should appear on the “most popular channels” list. Channel Hunt will then display the top-ranked channels each week. Come explore new topics, discover innovative content, and help your favorite creators get ranked on Channel Hunt!

For Creators

Reach new audiences and get insightful feedback in a supportive, community-driven environment on Channel Hunt. Each week, creators can submit new channels that have the potential to be ranked on the “most popular channels” list. Channel Hunt helps creators build awareness for their personal YouTube and Twitch channels by sharing their own content, getting new followers, and receiving helpful feedback from other creators. Submitted channels will be displayed on the homepage along with the most popular channels of the week. Submit your channel by Sunday, 6am Pacific time to be eligible for the following week’s competition. Check back to view analytics on how your content is performing and respond to comments from users to get critical feedback about your channel.

Channel Hunt is a community-based platform where creators can gain new followers and receive feedback on their content in an innovative and constructive environment. Members are encouraged to leave comments on your content to help spark new ideas and make edits that can take your channel to the next level.

Get fresh eyes on your videos and shoot for your chance to rank in the most popular channels of the week! Channels that rank will receive the following:

  • - A badge that sets your channel apart from unranked ones.
  • - An opportunity to be on the Channel Hunt Review.
  • - A feature on our YouTube page.
  • - The opportunity to work with other creators at official Channel Hunt events.
  • - A special gift from the Channel Hunt team.

The Channel Hunt homepage has three sections: channels published last week, channels published this week, and the best-ranking channels of all time. To find new content, you can filter by the most popular YouTube and Twitch channels included on the homepage. The ordering of the most popular channels changes daily, and Channel Hunt’s intuitive search feature allows users to discover new content quickly and simply. Make sure to check back regularly!

In order to bring you the best and most innovative content, Channel Hunt has curated a list of select channels for you each week. If you notice the “Curated By Channel Hunt” icon, this means that the channel in question was selected by us and NOT posted by the original creator. Generally, a channel cannot be reposted once launched on Channel hunt; however, if you’re the owner of a channel we chose to feature, you can repost your content at any time.

In order to cast your vote or add comments on a channel, you must be a member of the Channel Hunt community.

You can sign up for Channel Hunt using your email address or login on any one of the following social platforms.

  • Google
  • Facebook
  • Twitch

If you have signed up via email address, you will be asked to verify your email.

Once you are a Channel Hunt member, you can do the following:

  • Set up a user profile, including your profile picture, username, headline, and website link.
  • Upvote channels you like.
  • Comment on channels.
  • Post channels
  • Configure email notification preferences.
  • Nominate channels.

Before you post a channel on Channel Hunt, you’ll need to create an account. Once you are logged in as a user, you can post a new channel by following these steps:

  1. Click the “Post Channel” button (located on the Channel Hunt header).
  2. Log in to your Youtube/Twitch account. Your channel’s details will be automatically populated with information from YouTube or Twitch.
  3. Add or edit your name, channel description, relevant topics, avatar, and header image.
  4. Add videos that you want to showcase onto your channel page.
  5. Click on ‘Launch Now’ to get started.

You’ll receive email notifications when your channel launches and users comment on your content. You will also be notified if your channel ranks in the “most popular channel” list on any given week.

Generally, a channel goes live the week after its initial post date on Channel Hunt. For example, if you post a new channel on Thursday, the channel will go live the following Sunday at 6am Pacific time. You will be notified by email when your channel has gone live and is available to see on the homepage. You can also check the countdown timer on your channel page to see when it will launch on Channel Hunt.

The short answer is...nope! Each channel gets only one opportunity to compete for a weekly ranking. However, your channel will stay visible on the homepage as part of the “all-time channels'' library, so you’ll be able to continue collecting upvotes and feedback. If you decide to delete your channel before it officially goes live, you can repost it again.

How to edit a posted channel:

  • Go to your profile page from the dropdown menu you get when you click on your profile avatar.
  • Select the edit channel option (...) beside the upvote icon to edit your channel.

You then have the option to edit any of the following:

Name, description, banner, thumbnail, avatar, topics and video link.

How to remove a channel I posted:

  • Go to your profile page from the dropdown menu you get when you click on your profile avatar
  • Select the delete channel option (...) beside the upvote icon to delete your channel after confirmation.

*Once you delete your channel it will no longer appear on your profile and all data associated with it will be lost.

Yes – you can submit multiple channels from both YouTube and Twitch using a single Channel Hunt profile

As a member of the Channel Hunt community, you can nominate your favorite channels on YouTube and Twitch .Although your nomination does not automatically post the channel, it will notify the channel creator and encourage them to become a member of Channel Hunt and post their channel to get exposure and connect with new audiences.

To nominate a channel, please do the following:

  • Click the “Post Channel” button (located on the Channel Hunt header).
  • Enter the URL for the channel you want to nominate.
  • Add the email address of the channel owner.
  • Click “Submit.”

To add the Channel Hunt badge to your personal website, go to the channel you want to highlight. Then, select the “Embed” option (located by the “Share on Social” buttons). Channel Hunt will then generate a code snippet, which you can copy onto your website for extra visibility.

On a weekly basis, the Top Ten channels ranked in the “most popular channels” category will receive badges on their specific channel pages. If your channel ranks, you will also receive the following:

  • An opportunity to be on the Channel Hunt Review.
  • A feature on our YouTube page.
  • The opportunity to work with other creators at official Channel Hunt events.
  • A special gift from the Channel Hunt team.
